Interested in Marching Band? 

We hope so!  Marching band is in amazing blend of music, travel, competition and friendship.  Here is some basic information that might be helpful for you:

Timeline

  • Registration for marching band takes place in March (except for drumline, which begins the fall prior to the season with winter drumline).

  • All members of the band are expected to fully take part in "Band Camp," which happens over a week when noted on the schedule. Here, they will perfect their music and will learn their choreography.

  • The marching season begins on June 15th with the Milaca parade. Our final parade is at Lake City on June 30th.. See the schedule for more details.


Costs

  • There are two payments for the band season, and possibly a 3rd, depending on whether the band will travel or not.

    • A $175 activity fee, payable to Owatonna High School. If you have reached your school district activity fee family max, this fee will be waived.

    • A $295 marching band fee

Register

The link to online registration is here.  There are 5 easy steps to signing up: 

  1. Fill out the registration form. The deadline for filling out this registration form is April 15th.

  2. Go to the school's "Fee Pay" page to pay the $175 school district activity fee to the school district. The deadline to make this payment is April 3rd. If you have already reached your activity fee “family max” for the year, you will not have to pay this fee. Please call Nancy at the high school’s activity office (507.444.8988)to have this fee waived.

  3. Pay the marching band boosters deposit of $295. The deadline to make this payment is May 1

  4. Download, print, fill out and turn in a medical release form. The deadline to turn in this form to Nancy Benson at the activities office is May 15th. (Because it is a medical release, it needs to be signed and physically turned in. This form only needs to be completed if you don’t have a valid medical release on file at OHS.)

  5. Download, print, fill out, and turn in the Marching Band Medical Form. This is the form that was handed out at the informational meeting, and will be available to medical staff during parades in case someone needs needs medical attention away from home.
